PROJECT CHILDSAFE
The City of Wood Dale has joined a nationwide program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage. Project CHILDSAFE was developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and supported by a U.S. Department of Justice Grant. This program provides a free gun lock with instructions. To obtain a free lock for your firearm, please bring a valid Illinois Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) Card to the Wood Dale Police Department. You must be a Wood Dale resident, and there is a limit of one gun lock per household.
FIREARMS SAFETY TIPS
1. Keep all firearms locked and in a safe place, away from children and unauthorized persons.
2. Store ammunition under lock and key, separately from firearms.
3. Read and understand the owner’s manual that came with your firearm.
4. Follow safe gun handling practices: Keep muzzle pointed in a safe direction, keep fingers off the trigger and keep the firearm unloaded when not in use.
