Wood Dale Police Launch New Bicycle Registration Program
The Wood
Dale Police Department has teamed up with, and is now an
Official Registration Station for the National Bike
Registry. The NBR is the only national database working with
Law Enforcement since 1984 to return stolen bikes to their
rightful owner.
Why
register?
- 1,500,000 bikes are stolen in the US
each year.
- Half of all stolen bikes end up in police
property rooms.
- Less than 5% get returned because there’s
no way to identify the owner.
What do you
get?
For just
$3.50 we log critical information about your bike in the NBR
secure national database for 10 years and provide a
tamper-resistant NBR label to identify your bike. That’s
only 35¢ per year for your peace of mind!
Does it
Work? YES!
Property marking prevents theft. And if a bike is stolen,
NBR is your best chance to get it back. NBR has contacts
with virtually every police department in the US. Hundreds
use NBR as their bicycle registration system. NBR helps
police return bicycles to owners virtually every day.
How is this
new bicycle registration system better than the old system?
The NBR is a database that is searchable nationwide by the
more than 16,000 member law enforcement agencies. So if
your bicycle is stolen and found outside of Wood Dale, or
outside of Illinois, the rightful owner can be tracked
down. This was nearly impossible under our old bicycle
registration system.
