V.I.P.S. (Volunteers In Police Service)
Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), a Citizen Corps program exists in Wood Dale to encourage citizens to work with together with the Wood Dale Police Department. Our program allows volunteers to assist in the Records Unit and Investigation Division. Volunteers also assist the department’s command staff with clerical and statistical work. In the case of a disaster or major event, volunteers will assist with traffic
control. These volunteers have also completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training. Volunteers are trained by department staff, prior to working in the department.
