The Wood Dale Police Department provides 24 hours emergency and order maintenance services and is one of a few agencies in the State to achieve national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (C.A.L.E.A.).
The mission of Wood Dale Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City by working cooperatively with the public, protecting constitutional rights by enforcing the law, preserving the peace, reducing fear of crime and providing a safe community environment to live and work.
Wood Dale police in 2002 was recognized by the Regional Institute for Community Policing of the University of Illinois as having one of the most outstanding community policing programs in the State.
Wood Dale Police was also recognized as one of eight departments in the State in 2002 to have demonstrated leadership in traffic safety and receive an AAA Community Traffic Award.
The police department consists of 54 full time personnel (34 Sworn and 19 Non-Sworn employees) broken down into the following groups:
