Please remember that 9-1-1 is for EMERGENCIES ONLY. An emergency is an incident that requires the IMMEDIATE response by Police and/or Fire Department personnel.

When calling 9-1-1 remember to remain calm, speak clearly and answer all questions. We need your help to find out what is happening!!! Your safety as well as the safety of emergency responders is our priority. If you're reporting a fire, retreat to a safe location after hanging up. If possible, call 9-1-1 from a safe location.

If you think you called 9-1-1 in error. STAY ON THE LINE. The Wood Dale Police Department sends an officer to investigate ALL 9-1-1 Hang-Up Calls. So, please stay on the line to let us know you called 9-1-1 in error.

Parents, teach your children about 9-1-1!  Make sure they know their address and phone number. Remember, a real telephone should never be used to practice calling 9-1-1.
